Welcome to the first installment of Discover LOLA’s summer blog series: An American in Italy. My name is Nickie, and I’ll be bringing you insider style tips from the streets of Milan as I work and study here this summer.
First, let me start by saying that the stories are true - Italians really know how to dress. No matter what sort of unpredicatable weather this city has in store, I am yet to see a local caught without the perfect gear. From head to toe the ladies and gents in the streets always look totally at ease in equal parts edgy and classic ensembles. At first I questioned how it was possible to be so put together at all hours of the day, but then I realized - it just runs in the blood here. Italian design, from architecture to fashion, is about utility and style No element of the design is uneccesary, yet it is still stylized and beautiful. Follow along this summer as I bring you inspiration from impeccable Italian street style that will translate to wherever you are with the help of pieces from Discover LOLA.
Milan: Milanese fashion is understated, but still showstopping in its own way. The women here know how to mix proportions and stick to a color scheme. The Lina Romper is the perfect starting point to build an outfit for a night on the Navigli - add a black leather jacket, chunky black ankle boots, and voila!
Isle of Capri: A popular tourist destination for a reason! Keep it bright and breezy with the Dreaming of Lanai dress
Venice: Pair The Sierra Top with white jeans and gladiator sandals and you’ll be ready for wandering each and every alley and bridge of Venice.
Rome: The Marley Vest is perfectly at home in the Eternal City. Rome is absolutely beautiful and quite a site to see, but it calls for comfort - especially when its 90+ degrees and you are ascending hundreds of stairs to get the most spectacular views of the city.
No matter where your travels (or staycations) take you this summer, make sure to take some sparkle with you everywhere you go. Keep your eyes on the Discover LOLA blog for more updates from Italy!
